The Eighth Khatwa Forum

The Happy Homes Association for Culture and Development concluded the activities of the Eighth “Khatwa” Forum for University Major Selection, held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry Theater, with the participation of a large number of General Secondary Education students, parents, and those interested in education.

The organization of the forum stems from the Association’s mission to promote educational and cultural awareness and support students in making informed academic decisions based on sound and well-studied foundations. It provided students with opportunities to meet experts, academics, and specialists, as well as learn from real-life experiences that can help shape their university and professional futures.

The forum opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the Palestinian National Anthem, and a speech by the President of the Association, Ms. Suhair Hassouna, along with remarks by Eng. Safaa Abu Khorsheeq, representing the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Both emphasized the importance of helping students understand how to choose university majors in accordance with their interests, abilities, and the needs of the labor market.

The program continued with a lecture by Dr. Asmaa Al-Sharbati, titled “The ABCs of Choosing a University Major,” which addressed the key factors students should consider before making their decision. This was followed by a session presented by Eng. Nadeem Mohammad Abu Khalaf, titled “How Do I Choose My University Major?”, in which he presented practical steps and tools to help students make the right decision.

Following a short break, Dr. Bilal Al-Shuwaiki presented a session titled “Tips for a Better University Life,” highlighting key skills and habits that contribute to students’ success during their university years.

Shahd Imam then presented a session titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” addressing the importance of entrepreneurial thinking and developing youth initiatives.

The forum concluded with a “Success Stories” session featuring Dr. Sami Makharzeh, Eng. Hanadi Hijazi, and Mr. Rani Al-Sharbati, who shared their professional and personal experiences and offered motivational messages to students about perseverance, choosing the right path, and transforming challenges into opportunities for success.

At the conclusion of the forum, the participating universities and institutions were honored in recognition of their role in making the event a success. The Happy Homes Association for Culture and Development also expressed its appreciation to all speakers, partners, and volunteers, reaffirming its commitment to organizing the forum annually due to its positive impact in guiding students and helping them choose their university majors with greater awareness and confidence, contributing to the development of a generation capable of meeting the needs of society and contributing to its advancement.
